I'd be thinking there's an injector gone down, get it scanned with VCDS and this will confirm. That is the exact same symptons when mine went.

I'm from Cork so as your from Tipp we may as well talk in euro's!! A new injector and loom will set you back around €700. Your talking another €200 to €300 for stripping and fitting depending on where you go. When an injector goes doen the ECU shuts down the engine to protect the engine. You can determine which injector is at fault by pulling out one injector at a time untill the engine starts on 3 injectors!

thanks for the info bit pricey alright but has gotta be done. seems like a common enough problem you'd think they,d (skoda) recall the part or make cheap one's available at least?

Hi there. I had a similar problem just before Christmas ( in my haste I posted in the wrong section...) and it was an injector that had gone down. I did find a company online called

Merlin diesel and they do recon injectors a fair bit cheaper than new OEM spares so could be worth a shot if money is tight. The guy who fixed my car advised that a new wiring harness should be fitted at the same time due to known failures of these. Hope you get back on the road soon anyway.

i've got one that was fitted to a car for 5 minutes but didnt cure the fault so was returned to its box. there £375+vat from the dealers. pm me if your interested as its pretty much brand new and is the newer version not the old problematic ones that keep failing

thanks for the info on the wiring loom but seemingly these particular siemens injectors seem to be one of the only type that cannot be reconditioned i.m after spending the day yesterday sending off emails so hopefully some will come back with one cheaper than 640 euro plus vat really liked this car but gonna sell and go back to reliable honda.
