Camshaft meshing inside the 2.5 head

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have removed the camshafts from one of my spare cylinder heads! This was a few months ago. Now I am confused on how to mesh the two cams together!

There are two timing marks on both. And there are also those horizontal marks. Any ideas on the procedure on synchronising the two cams in one head? So just to clarify I am not on about synchronising the crank with the cams. All I need to know is how to assemble the cams inside one head. Thanks!

I think the two horizontal recesses go together - this gave me a situation where the camshafts did not have to compress any springs as they went in and in this position all the valves are closed!

So this has got to be it.

Have sold the head now to a guy on ebay who has fitted some wrong timing belt tensioner and he busted the engine. So needs two heads on his Passat. Then he found out when he took the cam covers off that all his cams were heavily worn too. His is a 2001 model - so heavily affected by cam wear issues (fix came in 2002).

Anyone on here happen to have a spare left head for a 155 PS V6?
