Changing automatic gearbox oil?

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have octavia II 2006 1.6cc with automatic gearbox, odometer now almost 74000km.

i read in technical service manual that , i have to topup the ATF.

many people says, i have to change that oil.

I don't know what is correct, drain the current oil and fill it with new ATF oil or just topup.

please help.

best regards

MAK

If the cost difference isn't much I'd probably change it every 50k miles rather than just top it up.

As long as you use the correct oil, then I can only see it being a good thing.

Obviously this is only my own opinion and based on nothing other than that.

Is this the DSG gearbox, if so the oil needs changing every 40,000 miles and needs a proper Skoda or other VAG specialist to do it.

If the car is fitted with the older type Torque Converter Auto then it is rare for the fluid to ever need topping up or changing unless the Torque Converter is slipping under load
