On our third Skoda, having owned a Favorit when the Czech cars were ridiculed, as well as those that drove them. Easy to ignore the jibes as we had also owned East German Wartburgs. Being long term sidecar enthusiasts we are well used to ill informed critics.

Our current Fabia 1.4 TDI was bought new when I retired. Love it to bits, notably because the excellent fuel consumption means we can still afford to operate our beloved sidecar outfit. Plus, even though it's only a 1.4, the performance is more than acceptable.
