Advice with new head unit

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Recently contacted an audio company asking a few questions. Originally I wanted to connect my Ipod to the stereo, using the Connects2 ipod adapter, which would keep the oem look. They can and would do this however recommended I would get a better sound by purchasing an aftermarket HU with the right connectivity.

Ok I thought, having a look around I replied asking about the JVC KW-XR611 Double DIN. Has anyone got or used one ? Opinions ? Their opinion and I quote "For a stereo the JVC isn’t a bad unit, but really I’d say to look at something else! JVC stereo’s lack an important feature; HPF" and instead they recommended the Kenwood-KDC-W5544U connected up with a Juice A8 8 inch Active Bass Tube

I really didn't want to be spending a whole lot of money. Is the second option a case of doing it "properly" (using the word loosely as I know properly involves a whole lot more) or would it be overkill for someone like me who likes to listen to their music, louder than average I would guess, but not so loud to attract the wrong type of attention.

Would the JVC unit be ok providing I kept everything else standard ? Would replacing the original speakers help, I have a feeling the rears need replacing anyways ?

Help, opinions much appreciated,
