Boot not opening and rear washer not working?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just read a topic about the boot not opening and the rear washer not working. This is happening to mine! Only problem is there wasn't an answer on the thread. Lol. Anyone know if the two are related? When changing the rear brakes I found a pipe but it didn't look like it was connected to anything, found out now it's part of the rear washer.

Any help would be great

Cheers

The relationship is normally that the hose has popped off the rear washer and is putting the fluid all over the lock in the tailgate.

The lock has corroded ( or frozen recently ) and is now too stiff for the solenoid to operate it.

Fix is to get in to the lock through the boot and open the tailgate, remove the tailgate trim panel, re-connect the washer pipe, strip and grease the lock mechanism with a waterproof lithium grease.

That does make sense but the pipe is disconnected under the passenger rear wheel arch. So surely there shouldnt be any water in the tail gate?

The Fabia must be different to the Ibiza in the pipe run for the washer.

The rear pipe on the Ibiza is inside the car all the way to the tailgate.

Are you sure the pipe under the car is not a breather pipe rather than a pipe for the washer ?

Once you get the boot open have a look at the latch on the locking mechanism, my bent last year (for reasons unknown) and took seconds to bend it back. Can't remember exactly which part it was, think it has an orange plastic cover on it. I asked on here when it happened and seems a few people had similar problems.

Cheers for all the help!!!

I'm gonna have a look around and see if I can see where it's come loose.

So does anyone know what the pipe is? It was hanging down tucked in the rear wheel arch?

Are you sure that's not the overflow pipe from the petrol filler recess?

Thought that too, but the OP said passenger side... :S

Yeah passenger rear arch. Forgot to mention aswell it's a vrs.

Sorry - missed that. But the washer pipe goes up inside the car on the passenger side (behind the plastic trim on the side of the rear seat) so it can't be part of the washer system.
