intermittent power loss

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a 2001 mk1 vrs which up till recently was running fine.I got the car remapped and since then it suffers from intermittent power loss.sometimes when driving all is fine and i can feel the extra power of the map but most of the time it struggles to get over 3000 revs.I changed the plugs with ngk platnum but this made no differance, next im going to change the maff but before i fork out for that i was hoping someone could help.the map was done by a top company in northern ireland who offer a money back gaurantee but i was hoping to sort the car because when it is running well its awesome, cheers.

Before you buy a new maf, try disconnecting it and driving the car. If the problem is still there then you can eliminate that. Also try a Throttle body clean. Did this on mine and made a hell of a difference.

If it was done by a top company wont they have a look to see what codes are on it?

will get them to check the codes.

update....before the remap the 1.8t was running very high boost about 1.9 bar. i had upgraded the dumpvalve with a hard spring to cope with high pressure. the remap reduced the boost to one bar which i didnt notice straight away. this meant the presure wasnt being released, thus the over boost fault and car going into limp mode. replaced the dump with oem. much improved but after a week got over boost codes and bad idle. turns out the n75 valve had been damaged by all the over boost.hope this might help someone...
