Help to fit a seat belt stalk on vRS

Featured Replies

Hi again everyone!

The passenger side seatbelt recepticle is not working properly. (You have to push the button down to allow the belt to clip in)

I've got the correct replacment part from a scrappers - but has anyone done it and have advice on taking the old one off and putting the new one on?

It looks simple enough with a bolt - but I'm thinking that the seat may have to be removed to allow proper access?

If anyone has info on this, that would be great.

Cheers

Tris

Taking the back-rest of the seat out can help with access. Its straightforward. To the side of each back-rest, at the base of the seat, there's a pin holding the seat in, and providing a pivot point. Use a flat-head screwdriver to push a retaining clip back and lift back-rest up and forward to lift out.

Cheers mate - very helpful info. I'll try that this weekend.

I've just tried this.

Honestly, if anyone needs to ever replace the belt stalk, don't use the pin release method above.

Although it does indeed give more access as suggested, you still can't get to the torx head bolt to get the belt stalk off. (as it faces the gearbox tunnel)

So, you will need to take the seat out.

Which is really easy to do:

1. take off the plastic rail covers. They're held in with one torx screw each

2. push the seat all the way back.

3. you will see 2 nuts at the front middle of the seat - undo these and put to one side.

4. The seat should now slide off the rails, and can be lifted out!.

Simple as that. - To put it back in, just reverse the above procedure!

The seatbelt stalk was easy to replace, just undo the torx screw, pull off, then put the new stalk on and tighten the torx head.

Job done !

The Torx screw seems quite big and impossible to undo - what size bit T?? and gorilla force required e.g. ft/lbs ?
