Skoda Offer Temporary Car While Waiting For Superb...

Featured Replies

Due to the fact that my Superb has been pushed back from BW5 (this week) to BW18 (that's the first week in MAY!!), Skoda have now offered to take my part-ex and supply me with a car temporarily while I wait for mine to be built (or to swap to petrol, which still has a 12 week delivery time).

I have advised my salesman that we do a lot of camping (hence the Superb Combi) and that an Octavia estate would be needed if we are to manage all the camping gear. He's offered to "try" and get me a Superb Estate, but suggested it shouldn't be anything smaller than an Octavia.

I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else and if so what car you were given. I'm also thinking of insurance, as I guess the courtesy car insurance probably has a huge excess and it may just be easier to transfer my insurance over.

They gave my mate a lump back and free servicing when his Octy was delayed.

Best chance would probably be something suitable that's come in as part-ex, or possibly a demonstrator. Something sitting on the forecourt as well, but I'd imagine they'd be less inclined to offer that - with the extra mileage it would accrue etc.

Im going to ask for a car also if my car is pushed back any further its becoming a joke now! :S

Out of interest, what is their (and your) contractual position with delays like this? As it's out of their hands in effect, when the order is placed and is down to the factory production as to when it will actually built.

I'm just wondering where dealers actually recoup their costs, in cases where interim cars are provided or 'sweetener' deals of a cash payment or some servicing deal.

Just curious...

Having watched this closely while i was waiting for my Octy to be delivered there are varying stories.

- If you get a loan car Skoda can take this from the compensation for delivery delay ( 18wk = £150 23wks = £300) depending whether the dealer wants to claim it from Skoda

- I got a loan car over Xmas, but when customer service asked if I had a car, I said it was a local arrangement between myself & the dealer, this seems NOT to have affected my compensation.

I would recommend you speak to your dealer about what any loan car arrangements are going to be, so there is no confusion.

Good advice

I was offered an extra £1,000 of a petrol Superb, but I got a good deal on my Superb which combined with the vat saving (I'm paying 17.5%), the fact that all models have had price increases of around £1,000, the additional depreciation on my own car and the extra fuel costs... the savings weren't actually as good as they looked on paper, hence I've stuck with the diesel :)

Yeah, very possibly, will just have to wait and see. I'll kick up a fuss if it's a lower spec than my current car though!!

Apparently, Skoda UK don't pick up the full cost of all these delays, but on the basis these dealers are mostly franchise, I can't see that being the case. As for what rights I have, well I suppose I could walk away and get my £500 deposit back, but where does that leave me? At the moment, I'm happy to hang fire, although I'm going to ask Skoda UK exactly what has happened to my order to have it pushed back 13 weeks when it was so close to its build week.

I had heard that the compensation scheme, which kicked in at 18 weeks and was either £250 of M&S vouchers, accessories or servicing vouchers, only applied to cars ordered before a certain date (and that was certainly before I ordered mine at the end of Sept). It's been confirmed on here too. I suppose there's no harm in querying this with Skoda UK though :)
