Octavia clutch peddle

Featured Replies

Iv currently bought a 2007 octavia 1.9tdi and I love it but I only have one small issue,I'm getting slight vibration coming through the clutch when changing gears at normal speeds ,the car is not vibrating so it's not the flywheel it just like engine vibration coming through the peddle, the car has only 50k miles on it and is like new.also when I'm driving along I get the same feeling if I rest my foot on the clutch slightly,it's nearly like a roughness, anyone have this problem?

Its the same with my Octy (1.9TDI). I think its normal.

BTW you should not rest your foot on the clutch, you should press it, do the gear change and release it. Also you should not rest you hand on the gear lever as all those even slight forces are being transferred to gears.

I've always had a certain level of vibration from the clutch pedal of every diesel i've ever driven, the power output from a diesel 'pulses' due to it's particular combustion process. Its clutch pedal shudder you need to watch out for as that can be a symptom of a failing dual mass flywheel.

Also, look out for any shuddering when driving up hills in a high gear at low RPMs and WOT. This puts the most pressure on a DMF and usually highlights any weakness.

It will be coming from the DMF, get it changed to the single system then no more problems

A slight vibration is normal for a diesel engine. No need to retrofit to a SMF if there is no issue with the existing DMF.

And you could end up with more vibration from a SMF not to mention possible long term gearbox damage/issues.

Thanks for the help,it's not the flywheel it's just seems to be engine vibration so if others have it I'm not too worried so!
