Anybody know the recommended times in hours to change

Featured Replies

Hi

Anybody know if Skoda have recommended times to change parts for there Skoda dealers?

I am particually interested to know how long in hours to change the following on my 1.9TDI PD (BXE engine) car;

Cambelt change

Water pump change, if changed at the same time as the cambelt.

Many thanks

I think you got your answer here:

I'm pretty sure Skoda won't want to quote the numbers of hours life of a particular component, although they will have targets to achieve during testing.

I guess this is why they have a maximum mileage and time limit for the cambelt change.

Even though the mileage seems to change for different years / engines it seems 4 years is the maximum.

I think the OP is asking for the number of hours to change a component, not the life of it.

In other words, how many workshop hours (time) is charged to replace the listed items.

Yes, indeed, all car manufacturers publish their 'book times' for repair work. These are also published by companies like Autodata (used by the independents). I have the info, but it is not to hand right now. IIRC a timing belt on a PD is around 2.5 hours and W/P is not much on top (20 minutes) which includes the refill with coolant. Those figures are right ball-park IIRC. tpically the techs are incentivised to beat the book time, hence the dealer makes a bit more income. HTH
