oil grade

Featured Replies

Guys ...I know this has been covered to death but here goes.

I have an o4 VRS mk1 59k and I will do approx 5k a year. The vehicle is one prev owner with FMDSH ,among the sheaf of bills and invoices are several references to synta 10/40 however our local audi dealer says i need 5/30 longlife. I am assuming the vehicle has started on variable then gone onto fixed servicing. I will be going to a local independent and will change the oil regardless once a year. Cambelt and water pump replaced when i bought it.

Regards

Best bet is go for 5w40 fully synthetic. Make sure it meets the VW502.00 standard though.

The audi dealer is kind of right - You need 5w30 longlife if you plan on running variable intervals. Your mileage would probably suit fixed annual servicing though, in which case you don't need the longlife oil.

Use the Quantum oil from the dealer - It's cheap, and seems to be decent. A lot of people on here, including myself use it.
