ebay bargain

I saw it and thought about it...need to shift a shonky Rover 75 first though!!

What I really want is a Rapide...anyone?

not a bad one, rapids are quite thin on the ground at the mo

I think there are 2 Estelles/120/130 variants on Ebay at the mo -I am tempted for it to be my "fun" 2nd car. But, Rover needs to go.

Dd they ever do an Estelle/120/130 Combi?

They never made an Estelle Combi or estate thanks to its in line 4 vertical engine. If I'd had the cash spare, that Estelle would have been mine..A car like that needs to be restored sympathetically, and kept as original as possible.

The 105 is possibly the worst Skoda ever made in my opinion, closely followed by my Dad's old 110L! :wonder:

But these old beasts do need saving.

They may not have been what you call high tech but for the price they were I'd consider them good work horses, provided you do the basic servicing regularly these cars go on and on and on forever. They are much much more fun to drive and miles better than the modern all electronic **** hatches we drive today.Given to chose between my 3 year old Octavia and my 23 year old Estelle i'd pick the Estelle all the time,it may be crude and slow and basic but it feels like you're driving around i a car and not a white good ...

Plus when it goes wrong, no need for poxy laptop computers..A set of spanners, string, and a lumphammer are all the tools you need :)

Well a couple of years back I saved this one..Find it reliable and far from slow!Even when running the standard 1046cc engine it was well up to the task of keeping with modern traffic I found.I enjoy driving it and it puts a smile on many other road users faces, they may lack refinement in some areas but to me this adds to the enjoyment..

:) Very under-rated cars by those that don't know any better and lots of fun too, if anyone wants to save one I know of several going very cheap that need restoring and given a loving home...let me know! That wasn't a for sale ad BTW, they aren't even mine, just trying to save a bit of Skodas history. ;)

Dave - how much resto needed and which models are available? Then the trump question - how much moolah?

I may need a cheap 2nd car to replace the Rover soon. A runaround, with character. The fact it's perceived a ****e adds to the fun in my eyes...

There's a Super Estelle 105, a 120L5, a Rapid 130 and a LHD 110L. I can PM you the guys phone number if you like.

what colour is the 110L is it one of mine?

Thanks Dave - I am stealthily planting the seed with my wife. I need to shift the Rover first and then have a good reason for a 2nd car (although a really cheap one would be good - especially if I need to work on it). I may get back to you in a month or so, when things fall into place (or not).

They did however make 3 of these:

Thats quality Kieran....is it a van or a camper(van)? If its a camper I guess the egine will keep the occupants nice and warm!

Dave rapid - for whatever reason (and I suspect the work internet connection - quirky), I cannot PM you. Could you try PMing me so I can reply?

Thanks

:) PM'd...hope you get it!

Got - thanks.

I believe its a van, on a extended chassis. I think Snotty needs modding the same way, to keep up with the S100.....

In the past I owned an S110r it never saw the road in my hands though as it was a shed and I sold it on for £50 in 1981. I later bought a new 1984 120 LSE it went like stink and was great on corners and round abouts, I then bought a V reg estelle 105 with chrome bumpers (went though a lean period  became wifeless & skint!)  then progressed to a 130 RAPID in 1990. in relation to the later105's I believe these were exceedingly basic to keep the price below Skoda's arch rival the Lada Riva. I think in 1984 the 105 was just below £3K making it the cheapest new car available at that time. by the way I'm now on my 3rd Octavia.
