car stereo dilemma

alright guys

im in a bit of a pickle i want to get my ICE in my 2006 octavia vrs and can see 2 routes but i dont know which is best.

Get a bolero head unit and using a JL audio cleansweep to power my sub and components and using an sd card

or get a double din headunit say pioneer that already has pre outs and ipod functionality and use my ipod

However if i upgrade (from the standard skoda cd player) to a bolero do i need a different dash/fascia thing?

If i get a double din unit do i need to get a naff looking fascia adaptor or does one of the fascias say for the columbus allow fitment of a double din straight away?

i know its alot of questions but ive had a search and couldnt find any answers.
