FL vRS wheels - paint chipping?

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had problems with these wheels? Mine have now been chipped twice by tyre fitters & where the mrs (honestly, it was her!!) has kerbed one slightly, there about 5 layers of paint and the paint just continues to flake off near any damage. It's ridiculously brittle.

I've never seen alloys that have done this before - are others having this problem??

I've had exactly the same problems with two of my alloys on my FL vRS. When I pointed this out as a warranty claim I was told Skoda UK wouldn't look at it. I have subsequently had my wheels stripped right back and powdered coated. When I picked them up from D&W wheels restorers in Newburgh (Aberdeenshire) Martin told me that when he dipped them the 4 wheels had been done twice in that a base coat and top coat was found under the first basecoat and top coat. Martin was unsure whether the first attempt was so bad that the second was necessary but he did say that the reason my chips were so big and deep was because of the number of layers covering the wheel. I was also told that the wheels were quality items aside from the poor finishing
