Columbus Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I got the disc (V7) to update my Columbus, put it in the unit and it all seemed to be going fine.

It asked if I wanted to run from the disc or save to the HHD and I chose the latter... five hours later it was still making noises like it was working. (the disk)

Does anyone know how long the upgrade takes?

There are no instructions I can find in the manual for the Columbus about how to upgrade. I've gone through all 71 pages.

The box with the disc says to refer to the manual. :wonder:

Can anyone help?

Whole process should take around 1hr at most.

There is a progress bar.

Also if you attempt to eject the disk while it is still copying you tend to get a message "Navigation not fully installed - are you sure you wish to eject"

If regular CD's are playing find then it sounds like a defective disk - take it back to where you got it from and ask them to replace.

Thanks.

I didn't get a progress bar.

I'll try again over the weekend and try with a regular CD too.

Never used the CD slot before.

I have heard of faulty CD drives in the Columbus - the one I bought for my old vRS would take a CD, spin it for a while and then chuck it out, so that is a possibility.

Try a regular CD in the drive - at least that should be a quick confirmation that the drive is working.

............agree all the way mine was the same about 1 hour with ..........

Mine took about an hour to upgrade as well. No progress bar either, which seems to be the general consensus from the Columbus v7 map thread.
