Build weeks

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a Octavia Scout on order (since December 2011), using the 'Track my Skoda' system an unconirmed build week of week 27 appeared about a month ago, fair enough.

Last week this changed to week 23 (today is the start of week 21), yet talking to the garage on Friday they reckon it's gone back to the end of August. Called Skoda UK this morning and they are saying it's week 23, but is still unconfirmed and probably won't be confirmed until the Friday of the week before.

Questions:-

Is this normal?

Does the garage have access to build information that Skoda UK don't?

Am I being cynical when I think this may have something to do with me potentially part exchanging my Yeti, but looking to time selling it privately before the Scout arrives, ie 'your car is here' and having to P/X due to lack of time to sell?

Cheers,

Tony

My Scout has also been on order since December. It had a (ridiculously late) build week a while ago but now the dealer says there is no build week showing at all. My potential p/x is a 100K mile volvo that the dealer will just send to auction so I don't necessarily think your dealer is deliberately keeping you in the dark about when your new car will arrive just because they might want to get their hands on your Yeti rather than you having the chance to sell it privately.

How do you go about tracking your own order by the way?

If you order your car through Bickerton or Rainworth Skoda, they give you an SLI number that you can then use on www.trackmyskoda.co.uk , which is great, if it gives yu the correct information ! This is the same number that Skoda UK can use to track your car.

I found Skoda customer services to be better than the dealer to check build weeks. My dealer was telling me week 24 when Skoda customer services was saying week 21. Got confirmed last Thursday as week 21 so not long to go now

Model: Octavia Hatch SE 1.2 TSI 105 PS DSG

(Please note that vehicle options are not shown)

Exterior Colour: Arctic Green Metallic

Status: Advisory Build Week suject to confirmation

Build Week: 201124

My build week is 24 thats 3 weeks time but still not confirm, what does that mean

It's stiil awaiting to be confirmed for week 24. Confirmation usually happens on the Thursday or Friday the week before it's scheduled build week. My build week was confirmed last Thursday as being week 21 which is this week

I have the opposite, Skoda Customer Services always refer me back to my dealer and have told me the dealer has access to exactly the same information as they do so call the dealer and not us.

I think the major problem is lack of consistency when dealing with customers, there seem to be as many stories as there are outstanding orders. The truth seems to be no one has any way of keeping track of an order and the factory moves things around all the time. So the only time anyone has any facts are as the car goes down the production line (which only takes around 25 hours) and that is when you can get some definite delivery information.

Everyone has different experiences and no doubt some customer service staff are more helpful than others. They managed to check my order information even though my dealer still hasn't given me my order number and the car was ordered on the 24th April. So from my experience Skoda customer services have been good in supplying me with the information regarding my order and I now gave my order number thanks to them

I suspect the dealers don't keep on top of the dates ot the factory moves things around. When I placed my order (late Feb)a build week end May was indicated by the dealer. Then I was told week 19/20. Then it changed to 21(this week). When I phoned to confirm that it really would be built this week I was told it was built last week and is already in Emden. At least I know it's on the way now ! :)
