Wheel bolt caps - painting and advise

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my spyders will be going gloss black soon :smirk: as my spares

Ive got some of the bolt caps on order and i want to do them skoda caliper green or something like that, a nice bright green

Does anyone know any paint codes and also how do u go about spraying them?

Little sand

Prime

Paint

Then laquer?

I sprayed mine to match my wheels and I just gave them a light coat of primer and then 2 coats of colour.

Still look good after a couple of years.

No need to laquer them then?

What primer should i use?

Any pics?

Skoda green is Pantone 348© Spring green.

Then you have to find a motor paint factors that knows what a pantone reference color is.... :dull:

Must admit to thinking of doing mine as gray is soooo boring.

Halfords do a good plastic primer, really easy to work with.

When I got my wheels done, I asked them nicely and they sprayed them to match for free.

AFAIK, they used plastic primer and then colour. It's worked quite well, as I've tried to scratch it off and can't.

Cool cheers guys...... Whats a pantone lol :giggle:

I used a standard primer and a Peugeot colour to match the wheels...

so are we all thinking no need to use laquer then ? :smirk:

Pantone is a standard method of describing colours. If you go to a decent motor factors or a bodyshop and say you want some "Pantone $value", they'll know what to mix, and your biggest issue will be that they'll probably need to mix several litres.

I found these guys (autopaintshop) will do 100ml bottle. Buy item and message email that you want Pantone 348 . I found color slightly light for my vinyls but correct on the bumpers.

"Hi,

Thanks for your enquiry,

We found the following colour information based on the code you gave us (Pantone 348 (strong spring green) )

Please confirm and order if you like."
