Help! VRS wont start - starter problem

Featured Replies

Help me please! nt to start car and nothing on my 2003 vrs. Checked battery and ok, so called the AA. They came out and said its the starter motor. It tow-started fine, but nothing when turning over by key - no solenoid clunk, nothing.

Any ideas before I shell out £70+ on a new starter today? Need car on road for tonight for the mrs.

Sounds like the starter has died.

Bad earth or as said starter failure.emoticon-0149-no.gif

Earth checked by AA man - said all is well. Power supply to starter also ok. I drove it home yesterday, parked and all was fine, now this morning it is completely dead. Not been struggling to start or anything, been running really well too.

Starter has died, or maybe the solenoid inside, but it comes as a complete unit iirc.

New starter was £70 all in - Bosch one - fitted in half hour and good as new. Poxy thing.

Glad your all fixed up at a very reasonable price.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I picked up a diesel starter motor from a local breakers for £45 and had it fitted. It works perfectly fine better than my original one.
