That could well be a driver door rubber failing. when they get worn or split they can leak water through them that drips down the side into the footwell. Also a dodgy door inner skin (between door panel and door) if either not there or split allows water to do the same.

Try tipping water down the driver window and or using hose pipe to spray around door rubber to see if you can pin point it.

Ok, silly question but it's not a sunroof model by any chance is it ?

In alot of the older cars the water drains for the sunroof rim run down to the sill. Over time these get clogged with leaves and dirt, road muck etc and once they overflow the water has no where to go but seep into the carpet. The footwells being the lowest point of the car means they often get hit first.

Had exact same problem on my Vectra. It was a blocked drain hole near the pollen filter which is just in front of the bulkhead under bonnet. When it rained the drain overflowed through the filter into the car. Very simple fix to clear it and replace filter. If set up on Octy is similar this could be the cause.
