What rpm are you guys doing when in 5th gear at 80mph in your mk1 octy vrs's? (On a private road of course)

you can always have one bolted one

For me, 80mph in 5th is 2500rpm...... but 80mph in 6th is only 2000rpm!

I tend to only use 6th once in triple figures (private roads & autobahns of course!) For a 420bhp car mine is almost frugal!

6th gear with the petrol O2M box (Leon Cupra R,Golf anniversary,S3,TT etc.) is virtually the as same 5th gear with the O2J (vRS gearbox).

For me, 80mph in 5th is 2500rpm...... but 80mph in 6th is only 2000rpm! ...

my long ratio O2M is of a similar setup to the O2J, 80mph in 5th is just shy of 3k rpm, which is fun but dangerous with a boost point @ 3100rpm

jabba still own me a 6th gear, which will be a diesel O2M 6th, so looking forward to some low rpm cruising ( if jabba even get time to fit it that is )

That'll be quite a jump from 5th to 6th.... You will love it though, I can cruise comfortably at 150+mph. To be fair I've seen it past 180mph on GPS..... Things get a little scary then. Not to be done on the public highway!!!!!!!!

its exactly what I wanted, a proper over-drive gear

tbh my main thoughts where about making the car more driveable on the motorway, as cruising just below the boost point is a pita after a while. The engine easy has enough torque to cruise at low rpm. At 2000 rpm it'll still be spinning the turbo at enough speed to be quite responsive too.

had been thinking a little trip along the autobahn might be in order too

don't think my power to ratio will let me get to anything like your top speed either ( I'm @ about 240bhp/ton, I'm guess you're in the region of 330bhp/ton )

They are a bit crazy in 5th how hard they will pull, I've seen an indicated 150 on mine and it was still climbing until I ran out of track. An overdrive gear would be nice.
