Just a quick one guys,

The rear shocks? one is really really stiff and springs up its self. the other doesnt and is easy to push in?

what does this mean?

is one a dud?

Ive set the rebound and bump to the same clicks and there is no difference.

cheers

Ive noticed on the casing there is numbers

the top numbers are the same but the ones under are different.

the one that springs out is 65343003 04/11 and the one I think could be old thats just been thrown in to the kit is 65343003 46/10

also the stickers on them say the same apart from the last bit which says CGA 801 on the good one and the bad one says CEH929???

Whats all this?

I really am getting ****ed now with receiving dodgy kit.

billy

are both set to softest setting....try that first, make sure they are both set to soft or firm, then see what happens

done that mate.

tried that first.

the fronts are good and spring out and both have the same numbers on them.

I am starting to think KW shafted me.

kw are pretty decent would be suprised if they did that on purpose,

so your fronts spring out, but the rears dont? or does one rear not push out but the other does?

my rears (kws) dont push out on their own...

Yea one seems good to me as does both fronts they are stiff and spring back nicely but the other rear one pushes in easy and stays in.

That's the one with the old 10 date if that's what it is

sounds wrong, have tried phoning KW?

It sounds like you have a packing error, and one damper (the one that doesn't extend by itself) isn't gas pressurised.

Hi Billy to me you have a set of correct suspension as the part numbers are matching, I would guess the CGA801 and CEH929 are just serial number codes to track through there MFG process and would expect to be different. I would therefore suggest that you either have a true MFG escape of a faulty unit or best case when fitted all will be ok.

Your best bet is call KW uk. I have called them before and are very helpful.

contact = 0161 355 1275

cheers

Mark.

I sopke to KW about shaock and springs on my M3 and they are very helpfull

Im sure if you give them a ring they wing help you out

But i know that if one pushes itself out and the other doesnt youd think they are differnt! but it could just be one is newer than the other and has slightly more resistance internally!

Providing you are getting resistance on both they would be fine

And like has been said KW are and excellent company and wouldnt send dodgy kit, well not with knowing anyway

But id give them a ring to ease you mind atleast

Ive been in touch with KW uk and so far its ok, They have offered to collect the shocks and test them as I am not confident putting them on the car when they have different resistances and the fact that one pushes out rather fast and the other doesnt at all.

also they say they dont supply an allen key for the front spring seat grub screw nor does the kit come with the tool to adjust the rear shock Bump valve in the base of the shock??

I am rather miffed there as the Weitec kit I got came with all tools required to adjust them. yet a kit that cost 3x more doesnt??? whats that about?

hope to hear back as to when they are collecting the shocks.

billy

Good to hear you've got response from KW. Their UK importers have a bit of a rep for poor comms.

I suspect KW assume you're already going to have those tools, as they're not really specific to the coilovers

They do supply spring adjusters, which are

Like i said before i spoke to a guy in thier motorsport dept and he was very helpfull, but this was in Germany and he advised me from there and i order the parts from him and they came through the uk importer

You dont really get any tools with coilovers, normally anyway!

Ive had quite a few different sets from different makes and the only thing you usally get is the spring seat adjuster!

UPDATE:

Right, I started by emailing LK performance where I got the Kit from about my probs as the email address that was in the destruction book was no good.

They forwarded my first few emails on to KW uk who replied very quickly. cant fault them there. I then just emailed them direct for simplicity.

I told them about the differences in the rear shocks and the fact I didnt get certain tools for adjusting the kit unlike the weitec kit that came with everything to change settings.

They arranged PF to collect the rear shocks and KW UK had a look and tested them and also found they were not quite right so sent them back to Germany for testing. They sorted 2 new shocks and sent them to KW UK who then posted them to me.

The Shocks arrived last night and both are numbered identical and both push out themselves, also in the box was the allen key to undo the front spring platform screw and the metal rod to adjuste the Bump settings on the rear shock lolso I now have everything needed to adjust the kit and also a full kit that is all the same so Ill be really busy this weekend fitting:

KW kit,

Rear beam

new brake discs

drivers door card

oil/filter change

oil pickup

and a few other bits.

billy

A big thanks to KW uk for the help and getting it sorted with no hassle.

Glad to hear you got it sorted hassle free - have heard the odd story of 'communication failures' between the UK and DE in the past
