Turbo replacement

Featured Replies

Been getting some blue smoke for a couple of months now from my 2002 Octy vrs. Finally went and got it checked out today at local specialist. End result was Turbo on it's way out with lots of excessive shaft play.

My question is, what do i do with regards to replacement? So far if i have had to replace anything on the car i have upgraded it rather than just gone for straight replacement and not sure if i should follow the same route with the turbo??

Any thoughts or assistance greatly appreciated and these are the mods i have so far;

FMIC

Turbo back exhaust with high flow cat

ABD induction kit

Forge 007 DV

4 Bar FPR

Stage 2 AMD remap

Weitec hi-con gt coilovers

drilled and grooved discs all round with mintex pads

Cheers in advance

I was gonna go hybrid as I get excessive smoke from mine and have done for a few months but tbh it'll cost near on £2k as I'll need fmic and other associated parts and thats probably as much as the cars worth. I've decided against it now as it's still runnin ok and I'm about ready for a change of car anyway.

If your keeping it then a hybrid is the only way to go imo

I would switch to a k04, good upgrade.

Hybrid mate, you've got most of the other bits required.

Cheers for the reply's guys. Other people have suggested teh hybrid route too. How much for the unit and who should i speak to?

Going to a k04 is a lot of work and money.

Stick another k03s on it and enjoy it for what it is!

Or hybrid but then the bills start!!

Cr turbos quoted me £595 + vat + carriage for a hybrid

When? As I got quoted 625 plus vat earlier this week for a hybrid k03s and that was for them to use my turbo

LOL, cool and damn at the same time - at £595 + VAT I MIGHT of been tempted lol.. that extra £30 + VAT makes all the difference lol. Though tbh, I'd want more than the 260-270bhp most cars get with it :(.

Decision made. I am going to go for a k03s hybrid. Waiting for prices from Turbo Technics and CR Turbos :)

Cr are 625 plus carriage abd vat and if they can use your turbo, or 765 plus if you don't supply your turbo

Still seems pretty inconclusive mind.
