The Scout has landed!

Featured Replies

My petrol scout was delivered some time over the weekend and was available to pick up from today so needless to say I was waiting at the door for the dealership to open this morning :p

I have been quite fortunate in that I have had the opporchancity to buy 3 cars from new, and can honestly say this was the best customer/dealer experience I have ever had.

There was a slight hissy-fit thrown by me when the original delivery date got pushed back to October but then it came right back in to 14 weeks from order, not bad considering the massive step-change car manufacturers have went through in the last 3 years. Luckily I did not cancel, the dealer said he thought I was being a wee bit daft just considering to cancel, and openly admitted he would have sold the car at list price, with no reductions, with no problem whatsoever!

I have had a little spin in the car tonight, I know the engine has a long way before it truly loosens off but I was VERY impressed with the drive of the car, I can only dream of what you VRS guys are like, grins like Cheshire cats no doubts! One of the main reasons for buying the Scout, wasn't for the 4x4 but for the raised ride height and boy did I see a big difference to my previous car, a French estate! The roads of Edinburgh are comparable to the surface of the moon, craters everywhere, but the Scout just smoothed it all out.

So far I'm very happy with the purchase, now, do I sit here and gloat or do I do the unthinkable, break out the manual and read about what all the switches, dials and levers do :giggle:

Great news Speedy - when did you order? Mine is showing week 40 (October) the last time I asked last week...!

When you've settled down a bit could we have some photos!

Ordered 6th of February, bearing in mind it is a non-DSG petrol, not so hard to come by as the DSG Diesels. Options wise I kept it simple, polished proteus, spare wheel, MFSW with maxidot.

Talking of which, does anyone have an idiots guide for maxidot or is it all listed in the car manual. Have had a VERY brief play with it, there seems to be loads of options!

As for photo's, I'll get a couple up soon, it's in anthracite, seems to be a popular option amongst some here so it's gonna look very familiar!

Glad to hear it turned up and yes we vrs peeps do have a very big grin, just hope mr plod isnt anywhere around when loud pedal is pressed.

Welcome to the club buddy

If you want Vrs power you can have a simple ECU remap and your off, sure after a couple of months driving :giggle:
