Couple of niggles - engine stutter & AC fault code

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My relatives have a 55-plate Octavia 2.0 TDi (PD140) Elegance, which is coming to the end of the Skoda Approved Used Warranty, so we've been giving it a look over to see if anything is starting to go wrong/needs looking at.

Giving it a fault scan reveals 1 code in the AutoHVAC area: 00229 - Refrigerant Pressure: Lower Limit Exceeded, which is logged as a sporadic. The air conditioning still blows cold, so would this likely mean that it simply requires a re-gas (there's nothing in the service history to suggest it's been re-gassed in the past), or is it more likely to be something more serious..? Just want to check before we have it re-gassed/looked at.

Also, my mum has reported that there is occasionally a slight brief/momentary "hesitation", almost as though you'd lightly clipped the clutch pedal by accident. The last two times she's noticed this, she was maintaining a constant speed, doing 30mph in 3rd up a hill, and 40mph in 4th on the flat - around 1,750rpm in both cases (IIRC), so not likely to be connected to using insufficient revs. My mum said it's only occasional - maybe once a week at most, and my dad said he's never noticed it. I remember the BLT-engined Fabia vRS had a stutter problem due to EGR at around 1,750rpm, although I've not really heard of the 2.0TDi suffering from the same problem (except for this post)..?

Any input/ideas appreciated. :)
