Comfy bushes

Featured Replies

I've got a 2010 VRS tdi estate and although I love what a brilliant all-rounder it is, the ride is a bit harsh. Anybody fitted aftermarket bushes to one and seen a difference?

Don't see that it is going to make a difference, the suspension and the 17 or 18inch wheels is what makes the ride harsh....perhaps you shouldn't have had a VRS...

Could be you're finding the OEM damping a bit lacking? You could try some 4090 revision Koni FSD dampers...

.....You beat me to it Steve....I second that, makes a world of difference

if comfort was high on your priority list, you shouldnt have opted for a VRS, too late now though, so as Wardy and The Skud say, Koni Dampers would be your next step, and/or smaller wheels with more tyre, possibly some springs from a non VRS model, depends how important comfort over looks is really!

Yeah, a vRS was always going to be on the firm side, especially compared with the rest of the Octy range :)

Can be rectified though I reckon, through damping alone. And yes, a move to a 17" wheel with 225/45/17 will improve things too, and how the car handles rough surfaces and lovely potholes. I'm sure a swap of your standard wheels with someone else's 17s could be arranged.....

Have Koni sorted out the issue of premature failure of the FSD's with the 4090 revision?

Yes, they have. That's why this version was released and also to re-tune the damping, more in line with what would be expected from a GTI-type owner. These were originally pushed by Koni when they released them as specifically designed for the Golf Mk5&6 GTi.

Thanks for all the helpful quotes - will definitely look into the konis - I intend to keep the car for a fair old time so might be worthwhile investment.
