Head Lamp Washers

Featured Replies

Am i right in thinking that they work every 5 presses on the washers?

If so, mine are broken!!

As far as i am aware, this is only when the lights are on.

With the lights on they wash on the 1st wash of the windscreen and then every 5th wash of the screen.

ARRR, if thats the case no wonder it isnt working.

Just tried it with the lights on and it still doesnt work!!

Time to book it in to get fixed!

Thanks for your help

Bonnet needs to be closed too, that stops it firing water straight into the engine bay.

Try the fuse in the fuse box, mine didn't work because of the blown fuse

From what I can gather it also doesn't work on the auto lights setting, lights need to be manually switched on.

Ok, will look in the fuse box.

as for the auto lights i dont even think i have that option!! i always use manual.

may be a stupid question but are you sure you have headlamp washers? as some cars have fake blanking plates that look like headlamp washers on the bumper

Headlamp washers spray water in radius of 2-3 metres and I have disabled them in VCDS as I was spraying people around the car when cleaning the windscreen. Can't see the headlamp washers being needed during summer. Will enable them on winter.

Sorted it!!!

was the fuse!! :smirk:

It does on my 2011 Car :wonder:

As long as the Light is actually on then it should work as previously described

FYI, length of time the washer stalk is pulled for before they fire, duration they're on for and the number of windscreen cleans it waits for can all be adjusted via VCDS.

So you should be able to get the setup you're after. Default wait time is 200ms, so I've personally pushed that back to 1500ms, so I need to be giving the windscreen a good dousing to get them to fire. TBH I still find them handy in the summer, to get rid of bugs.

Must check that again then. Mine is a 2008, I wonder if that makes a difference?
