How do I change the air and fuel filter on a 2.0 TDI

Featured Replies

Hi all, this is my first ever post on here! I really want to do some of the simple service jobs on my 2006 Octavia 2.0 TDI (DSG auto) to save some cash, and the air and fuel filter seem to be the simplest things to do my self. I have never serviced or worked on a modern car before.

So my question is, are these simple to change, and what tools do I need? I am guessing that both are in the engine bay? I would really appreciate some simple instructions on what to do, or even better, links to online guides. I am a technically minded kind of person so it cant be that hard!

I am amazed having Googled around for ages that there is very little info on servicing Octavias, and was even more amazed that Haynes manuals only go up to 2004 models.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

air filter requires a screwdriver and not much else.

It's the box to the front right as you look at the engine bay.

Fuel filter is the tin can to the front left. There are three types of filter though, so you'll have find out which one you need.
