Shortening Gear Knob?

Featured Replies

Just been browsing through the skoda fabia 1 section and noticed that a few boys there have carried out this mod.

I know its maybe pointless but thought about maybe giving it ago at the weekend, think it would look better a 3/4 shorter. Anyone ever tryed this?

Feel free to tell me its pointless and stupid and a waste of time to carry this mod out lol just thought it would be something to do to pass my weekend off from work.

Just buy a proper quickshift ya tight arse :giggle:

I've done it on older cars but never bothered with the vrs and can't do it to the Volvo cause it's lift up reverse.

It just gives a better feel doesn't actually do anything plus you'll need a new gear knob so may aswell buy a proper jobbie

I've done it to mine and it gave a bit more feel. Lopped about an inch off the top. There is no quickshift for the fabia vRS (TDI) so this was about the easiest equivalent thing to do.

When bored i have changed gear by holding the gator and its bloody horrible lol.

Just don't be a tight arse and get yourself a sequential gearbox lol.

Yup thats me a tight arse lol, how much do short shifters roughly cost?

If i attempt this am i likey to goose the gear knob? Does it just unscrew from the shifter? I was hoping to get it to the same size as what i had in my corrado, they felt alot better to change gear with etc and looked better.
