Waiting time

Featured Replies

Hi, I wondered if any one had any advice or support or update. I ordered my scout in march but am still waiting for it to arrive. It was due in July/august according to the showroom but the build date has only just been confirmed and I'm thinking delivery is unlikely before the end of October - or even the first snowfall!!

Has anyone else experienced similar delays?

The showroom are totally unhelpful and making my experience of buying my first skoda very unpleasant. I'm now even considering looking elsewhere.

Any experienced individual able to offer any advice about how I may be able to progress this or at least engage the dealership? At the moment they're being Really unhelpful and I don't know how to engage them in working with me to resolve the problem.

All advice/support welcomed - I'm at the end of my tether!

I would get onto Skoda UK.

It's unlikely they can speed up your delivery, but they can certainly make life uncomfortable for your dealer.

You may as well start sounding them out about compensation too - you'll almost certainly qualify.

Hi, well, I can beat that! we ordered a Fabia Greenline II in March .........we were told we'd get the car in 4-5months. I've spent hours trying to find out why we still don't have a build date and have finally written to the MD of Skoda in the UK. His office is now 'looking into it' and have given us a 'possible' build date of week 44/45 - end November, beginning of December.......Really annoyed and also rather worried, what happens if we ever need a spare part?! Should we be buying a Skoda at all? It's the lack of information that's so frustrating....do they have a real problem with their factory? is it Japan? are they in financial trouble??? questions, questions. Sorry, no answers! Shall we start a facebook page to find out who's waited longest for a Skoda? Try contacting customer services..........

My Roomster purchase experience went like this... no one had any information about when the car would arrive and delivery dates were guesstimated at 16 weeks, when I placed the order. As soon as the car had been delivered (after 21 weeks) and I had given the dealer and Skoda low scores on the feedback forms everybody knew exactly how long the car would take to make (from the day I placed the order) and I had allegedly been kept informed all through the wait. In fact the guy at Skoda said I should be pleased that the car was delivered sooner than the estimated 25 weeks (an estimated date I was never given and Skoda always knew about).

Just contacting Skoda UK or customer services does not get you any answers, the person who claimed to be aware of delivery times from day one was Ian Watson, Customer Relations Manager (0845 7745745), maybe he can give you some answers.

I don't know who you ordered it from, but if it is Bickertons or Rainworth, then if you input your SLi (order number) into this website it should give you some idea.

There are loads of threads on here about delays in ordering Scouts, I think there have been some folk waiting in excess of 10 months & some getting them much sooner (most seem to have been advised 6-8 months lead time). It used to be that the more you added options to an order the longer it was likely to take, but I seem to recall a thread that said that Scouts were built in batches and each batch has a critical mass. So if you miss one batch you are "qued" for the next one.

Things that have added to the wait in the past have been if you specified a diesel and if it was with the DSG, also adding a sunroof. Once it's built it can take 6 weeks to get to the UK & be prepped ready for hand over by the dealer (waiting for shipping, car transporter etc), though i've known that be quicker too!

Key thing is to find out if it's got a "confirmed" build date. Once you have that you can work out when it should arrive. Provisional build dates are just that; and can move about a fair bit.

I know it may be of little help, but try the link above if you ordered from them, as it's quicker and cheaper than phone calls etc. As others have said it is not likely that anyone can speed up the production, but you may be eligible to some compensation. so check with Skoda UK if you still have no joy.

Finally, once you get your scout, (they really are rather good) I'm sure you will be happy!
