Just checking, I've had an invite to a Police security check on catalytic converters on 4x4 vehicles, the MK1 Octavia estate 1.8T does have one doesn't it? :wonder: :wonder:

Really? I've been looking through my handbook but couldn't find anything, also been googling - so two? Boy, I can look smug now ha!! Cheers.

I wasn't aware that they were being tea-leafed on such a high scale, My car is de-badged so doesn't draw any attention to it being a 4x4 but I dare say thieves have other ways of telling? I would never know mine was a 4x4 but then...I didn't know it had two catalytic converters ha ha!!

Let me guess, its not that 4x4 have special cats, but that most 4x4 are offroads, thus high off the ground and easy to get the exhaust off without jacks, etc ?

Cheers for the pics, yeah absolutely. But it doesn't look like a 10 minute whip someone's valance or sideskirts off, it looks like it would take forever to get off :wonder:

If they're stealing it, they won't bother unbolting it as they only want it for the scrap value. A couple of quick cuts with a portable power tool and that'll be it, they wouldn't care less about any collateral damage.

That's a cool tool

They're really useful to cut factory-fit, one piece exhausts in-situ. The four cutting wheels ensure a clean cut without deforming the pipe.
