what suspension

Featured Replies

I need some advice from you experts. I am looking at getting some new springs and shocks for the octavia but do not know what to get would like to lower it but not by much about 20mm.

So do i buy new standard shocks (mine are knackered) and lowering springs or do i get a complete suspension setup?

Sorry forgot to say it is a 2.0 TDI on a 06 plate

Depends what you want to achieve ?

.. And how much you want to spend, obviously. More info.?

If your wanting to lower then I'd say go for matched shocks as well.

As mentioned what's your budget?

would springs and shocks off a petrol vrs 11 plate fit on to a 2.0 tdi 06 plate?

what i want to achieve is to drop it about 20mm and as for budget did not really want to spend to much was just looking for options

If you want to see the spread of what's available go over to DPM's site and take a look.

If you JUST want a small drop, then a set of springs with your standard dampers would do that. That will work ok, but you'd get a better result if you have dampers that are matched to the springs.

i'll take that as no one knows the answer.

Damian, please help!

I have an Octavia 2 with 1.8 TSI engine. I recently changed from a Yeti with it's firm ride (far less movement on corners than Octy). I don't like the body movement in this Octy when I move over less than smooth B road surfaces at 80 mph. Must get the control back. The seemingly obvious option is the full B12 pro-kit, but I have read comments elsewhere that these springs are soft? Lowering matters not to me - I like a bit of height in fact for a farm road but can also accept lowering if needs be for the firmer control at speed.

(if someone wants to say 'should have kept the Yeti - main reason for change was boot size and motorway dissatisfaction with it's 1.2 engine).

Would be most grateful for some specific advice for the Octy 1.8 pse., (budget-wise I wouldn't want to go beyond about £600).

i'll take that as no one knows the answer.

I was going to put oobsters TSI suspension on my car earlier in the year, however, the feedback I had was not very specific and I couldn't find a definite answer. The general consensus was that the car my not sit right on the front as the tdi engine is heavier and this could also affect the way the car handled.

Well that opens a few more opportunities to find a set to update my suspension in the future. I probably should have tried skoda when I was trying to get info earlier in the year.

Thanks for the info.
