Many of you won't have memories this old but some of us do

Say about 20 years ago,Audi never figured anywhere really.Wasn't that smart(was ok but certainly not a top car).In fact it could almost have been described as a non entity in the car world.

Along came the quattro rally car and some stunning pearlescent road going versions of it and things started to move along.When they started producing the A4 things just seemed to get better.

Now look at them! monster RS cars,executive cars that are up with the best.Just see a bit of a pattern emerging with skoda.No s******ing

Some will say VW won't let skoda get better than the alleged budget side of the group.I reckon skoda is the fastest rising star now.Win a couple of rallies for VW and that will be the icing on the cake.

Going to check this post in ten years time and I reckon there will have been an awful lot of changes in the status of the various makers within VW

In full agreement...it's a shame we can't buy shares in Skoda as a seperate entity...........

Especially with the way SEAT seem to be shooting themselves in the foot design wise with the Altea/Toledo/Leon................

i woudlnt hold your breath... at the mo the skoda rally team has no where near the backing of the evos, scoobys and pugs...

Nice idea tho...i can't see it happening...tho...

similar has been brought up before...skoda are plugging huge hole in the VW groups range at the mo..

Audi's have always been good, pre quattro years for sure, and the early 80's GT coupe was very capeable FWD bragging a sub 10 sec 0-60 and over 130mph top speed from 135??? bhp 2.2 5 pot. Happy days i would say, but the interesting thing is, is that 25 year old 5 pot design was sold to Volvo who uses all the engines including the legendary T5. And what engine is in the 2005 model S60R (V70R), a 2.5 20v turbo lump, a variation on a 25 year old engine, and produces 300hp out the box !!!!

A BLIND test was done just before the Octy was released and with the same result, so it is really no surprise.

The previous one had people mistaking the Octy for an Audi.

i've heard skodas are built better than vag or audi as they have not got the brand image to fall back on as much.

BRING BACK THE 6R4s and RS2000s!!!!!

Did anyone catch the test where they sent out the ordinary woman in the 6R4 to do her shopping as a test!!!! Engine heat melted her shopping hahahahahaha ROFL

Also i can safely say after all the cars i have driven/been in....the best and scariest was the original 80s Audi quattro!!!! OMG!!!!! my dad had one for 3 years when i was little and it had the shutter rear window......stoopid fast!!!
