1980 Skoda 120L 500 original miles

Featured Replies

Hi I wanted to check if my skoda was anything of value. It is 31 years old.

1980 skoda 120 L driven only 950km original miles for 31 years (600km done last week to get it home when I bought it).

It has original miles. Only flaws are that it's painted with matte paint to protect from rust so it's almost completely rust proof underneath. And the cover on the seats is a bit torn because it rips very easily cause by old age.

Can provide pictures if requested.

Wow - that sounds interesting indeed. Do share some photos if you can. Such Skoda cars are well worth preserving as sadly many of the low mileage examples were scrapped in the UK in the period 1997-2000 and it was with regret that I had to turn them down, so hearing there are still some out there is good news indeed.

B) Pictures would be great!

As for value it's hard to say without seeing it, but IMO it's priceless!

Sounds fantastic!

My first thought was whether it's matt paint, or the original transport wax. In the latter case, given that it's a 1980 car, it's utterly unique!

The torn seat doesn't sound right for a "new" car, even if old? Pics would be good

From memory the Estelle 120L had a black ribbed material which may have faded but not perished, surely?

The 120/105 range had nylon seats that perished in the sun. There is foam under the nylon and when the nylon covering tears the yellow foam glares through. The worst point is the rear seat back where the sun hits and people hold to pull the seat back forwards. It ends up looking like you have been transporting a wild tiger in the back!

This car will have been subjected to sunlight somewhere as the seat covers do not become brittle in shaded places.
