Hi i have a 2006 octavia vrs.

Yesterday i went to unlock the car and the unlock button on the fob would not work. The lock buton did.

I then tried the key and it unlocked the key but did not switch the alarm off, also the unlock switch next to the gearstick would also not work.

I tried this several times with the lock button working each time and the unlock not working.

I removed the fuse and replaced that to no effect.

When i got home i tried my spare fob and that worked.

Is this a alarm problem or a button problem on the fob or third option a fob battery problem.

If its number 3 how do you changethe battery and what size is it.

I take it 1 and 2 is a dealer job and a full scan.

I've just had this exactly on my 08 Fabia remote - lock worked, unlock didnt. Although I didnt think it was the battery (doesnt really fit the symptoms) I replaced it... and now it does nothing.

I have a spare fob and that works fine, but I am a bit annoyed that the main one I was using now seems to be dead. My assumption now is that it must have been some failing electro-mechanical connection within the unit that I disturbed even more by taking it apart to fit the new battery, so I am going to take it bits and see if there is anything obvious going on :S
