Can someone confirm this short shifter is correct please

first link looks ok,

2nd link is the better type of kit, does side to side reduction too, but is a lot more involved to fit...

I've been looking at this one for the mk4.

like the fact that it comes with the gear knob, and a good looking knob too

( thats a further £10- 25 saving)

The maker has clearly been copying design ideas from this forum ;)

Should be easier while you've got the box out

there is a LOT of difference between fitting the first kit (takes a few mins) and the second kit, which requires moving/removing the exhaust, heat shields and gear selector which is bolted into the central tunnel.

Think the engine and box are out the car dude, while he does the box and a few other jobs, shouldn't be anything in the way now ;)

ah, but the the engine and box arent where the second kit mount, that mounts further back in the central tunnel. If the exhaust is out, then lee just needs to remove the heat shielding and he can get to it easily.

So why is the engine out anyway? has he got another box yet?

i would be fitting a wavetrac if i was him :)

I'll be dropping the golf at the garage then if it's that involved lol. Took me 2days to fit discs pads and coilovers! F****** thing!

lol, dont blame you then!

i fitted mine myself and it was a right **** to do on the ground, cos of access, ramps would make it loads easier

Not due to the lack of skill or competence I might add lol.

It was due to the fact everything was original and never seen a spanner so either broke as soon as it was touched or was seized solid! Spent hours sourcing a rear caliper, then the brakes wouldn't bleed up properly :(

I'll let someone else have the stress this time :D

engines out because needed to fit new manifold and it was a sod doing in situ, plus the box and clutch and it really wasn't hard to drop the motor! wavetrac...Car is ok without. It's a big barge of a skoda at the end of the day. never going to be the quickest round a track so im not that fussed! plus it's £700 id rather have! :giggle:

na a properly setup octavia can handle, maybe not like a mk2 golf but still with an atb/diff you would be suprised!

you are right tho, the mani is a pain to get to in the car, but doable, however engine out is hardly hard.

piece of **** dropping the motor! in terms of handling though, compared to my old properly sorted ek4 it's moons away. If i could have found a second hand dif then good times. but as said not majorly fussed. It hasn't even been on track yet!
