Cone filter in airbox

Featured Replies

Just had a look on JabbaSports site, they sell a cone air filter mounted on a plate that fits in the standard airbox. Anyone fitted one?

A mate of mine had one fitted at Jabba. He likes it... It sounds pretty cool but I think I'd prefer an open cone.

I made one. Did nothing for me

Is an induction kit better? Everyone seems to use the PD160 intake with K+N etc panel filters.

I wouldn't use a panel filter. I'm running 225-240bhp (depending on the rollers used) using a standard paper filter. I used to have a Pipercross filter but it let **** through into the turbo.

I'm running a standard airbox with the PD160 air in-take.

I've been running the PD160 with a K+N panel filter for around 2 years but wasn't sure if an induction kit would be better, especially if I go down the hybrid turbo/fmic route.

Nope, what you have is perfectly fine for that setup

Yep, no need at all Kenny.

Stick with what you have :)

As said, stick with a paper filter. It's good enough for 250+ bhp

Made one of these myself. It lasted about a day as I couldn't stand the tractor noise it made.

ISTR Jabba reckon that panel filters can be a problem if running a hybrid turbo or bigger. In that the surface of the filtercan get sucked in. Whether this then lets unfiltered air through or the filter breaks down, I'm not sure.

From perusing the web, I found some people asking for conical paper element filters. Start with a FRAM CA8805 and work your way around google. ;)

I guess one way to do it would be to pick a FRAM profile for a vehicle with similar power, then see where it can fit. Ideally one would make a manometer and measure the pressure loss across the standard filter first.
