just a quick dv question

Featured Replies

Is it better to have a re-curc as the 2 I have require the blanking plug. Cheers james.

Recirc mate,

otheres tend to throw coads and also dont hold the boost as it pushes against the spring and opens it at max boost. I found that ne way, also due to the engine and all the gizmose on it, the ECU uses the DV and the waste gate in the turbo to regulate the boost and even on a std drive under partial accel it slightly opens the DV and juggles between them.

Is there any particular model of dv that will give off a loud whoosh or dump. Chavvy I know but why else would ya have a turbo lol.

Compbrake one sounds good coupled with an induction pipe. But you must remember you can't get the same loudness as a scooby one for instace

to get sound you need the CAI. then the Forge 007p or Compbrake. The 008 Forge is prob same too as is the Bailey DV30iirc or even the SplittR but again thats not Ideal as it vents boost to air so is a bit like a small leak. not enough to trigger a code tho if set up right.

If you want noise then you really have the wrong car.

The turbo is too small really and the way the motor is made its better leaving std. I loving mine atm with the std Bosch back on.

had a go fast bits hybrid dv on mine for a while worked well, and that was loud!

Had the Split-R on mine for a while which didn't seem to cause any problems but after half a year I realised it was a bit of a "look at me I've got a turbo" gimmick and swapped it for a 007P which was fully recirc. This is what it sounded like with the normal airbox on:

As Billy said above, these cars work much better with fully re-circ and they are never going to sound like a Jap car as the turbo is different and running a different amount of boost.

Compbrake ordered :)

Was going to say, the stock one in most cases works fine..

i seem to remember seeing one (forge motorsport i think :S ) which is a semi-recirc, got no idea how they work but they are specifically designed for the 1.8T engines, i guess it must just vent a portion of the charge pressure to atmosphere to make the noise then the rest just gets chucked back into the inlet pipe

Thats the SplittR valve mate.
