Upgrade the facory installed aux heating with a remote control

Featured Replies

Dear all,

my name is Marcus. I am 26 years old and coming from Leuna. Thats a little town near Halle / Saale in Germany. I just registered here some minutes ago and this is my first post in this forum.

I am a native german speaker so hope my english is ok for you and you understand me ;-)

I bought a Skoda Octavia II 1.6 CommonRail TDI in 08.2010 with factory installed Aux Heating. The manufacturer of the facory installed aux heating is Webasto. In Detail it is a Webasto Thermo Top C. Normally i can set a Date and time in the MaxiDot menue. Par example tomorrow in the morning 7 o clock for 35 minutes and aux will start and warm up the engine and the car so i can go to car without frozen windows.

Now i would like to have a remote control for aux heating but maybe its more difficult as i was thinking. The Webasto Thermo Top C for the normal Retail market (when upgrade the car with aux heating after point of sale (APOS) has a remote control called Webasto T91. This T91 allows to programm the aux heating time, turn it on and off or switch between heating and cooling options (for summer par example).

For the factory installed Aux heating Skoda Germany offers also the T91 remote control as OEM completely in black and with Skoda logo for approx. 400 Euro + 2h installation fee. This Skoda OEM remote control does not allow to program the Aux heating but only to turn on and off cause heating time (how long it should run). still must be programmed in MaxiDot.

I ordered the Skoda OEM T91 on ebay in Germany from a supplier from Poland for about 160 Euro under following link:

www.ebay.de/itm/170708226198

This Kit includes the T91, a remote module and the antenna.

Now i went to my local Skoda dealer. They installed the kit. The aux heating engine works fine, when start via remote control and the remote control shows that the aux heating is running because is blinking each 2 seconds. Thats the good news.

The bad news are, that the climatic fan doesnt work and that means that the interior will not be heated. Climatic keeps off. When i now turn off the aux heating via remote conrol again so the aux heating turns off again, like it should.

My car also has a factory installed button, where i manually can press and turn on the aux heating (still when the car key isnt plugged in). When now pressed hat button so climatic turns on and warm air will be blown into interior. Also works fine when programmed the aux heating via maxi dot.

Do you have any ideas, what could be the reason for this? The site foreman from Skoda told that he coded already the car for aux heating remote control and installed the Kit like the original one from Skoda. He told that the original remote module has the part number: 7N0963513 and the one in the kit is different but he does not think that this belongs to the remote module.

I would be thankfull for any help.

Thank you and best Regards

Marcus

PS: sorry for the high amount of text ^^

Your english is better than many english people. :)

Unfortunately we can't have aux heating on Skodas in the UK, it's not on the options list. But hopefully somebody can help you.

Welcome to Briskoda.

Wish I could help you mate, but damn do I wish I had that feature.... :(

Sounds to me like it hasn't been coded correctly if the fans in the car normally come on with the auxiliary heater but not when operated with the remote.

Like it has been said auxiliary heating isn't used in the UK much so we don't know a great deal about it.

Hi

Working Webasto without a working fan can be a pain :giggle:

I found the following in the net - maybe it can give you some hints

http://kotisivu.dnainternet.net/ilkmaat/skoda/Webasto-Telestart-T90-Octavia-InstallationGuide.pdf

Looking at the wiring diagram it seems that the installation of the remote does not directly affect the fan controls so it could be either a VAG program issue (see page 10) or Webasto program issue....
