Recirculating Dump Valve

Featured Replies

I've got a mk1 VRS, engine wise its completely standard apart from an induction kit.

Having to do some work on the engine this weekend and just wondering if it is worth fitting an uprated recirculating dump vavle??

I know they are recommended after a remap where higher boost is used, but are there any benifits to fitting it to a standard engine??

Thanks in advance!

Not really.

You won't notice a performance improvement unless the old one is worn out.

You can buy 3 OEM ones for the price of a decent aftermarket one.

Uprated DV's only offer reliability not improved performance. Unless your going to highly tune your car it's pointless. Remember the OEM 710N DV is fitted to the 225bhp Audi's & Seats so is easily capable of handling a stage 1 remap.

If your induction kit is drawing hot air from within the engine bay take it off because you're probably losing at least 5bhp. The standard air box will offer better performance.

If you have a CAI then that's a different story as long as it doesn't have a cheap ebay cone filter stuck on the end

That will put engine warning light on, just leave standard one on, waste of money unless your running big power

Put your cash to something you would see the change from.

Get a short shift or something like that.

Nooooo it won't put the engine light on, i have one and the car has just been mapped to 225, put it on vag com to check for cel, found one but it was for the secondary air pump. If you do get one turn it completely anticlockwise on the adjuster at the top then turn it 15 clicks for a unmapped octavia and for a mapped one turn it 21 clicks.

It has made a improvement as the old recirc was not holding the boost like it should and 21 clicks for me and its not bleeding off boost. Also the good thing with this is when you get a bit cheesed off with the noise you can just take the trumpet off and hey presto back to recirc but to be honest it not that loud

Each to there own but my advice is if you like it do it cos there is loads of opinions and very few are the same mate

Personally I think something like the Forge 007P is a worth while addition. A lot more reliable then the standard Bosch unit and you can also tune them incase you decide to get a remap.

Go for a compbrake one same as the forge but loads cheaper, they're reliable too
