octavia 4x4

Featured Replies

Anyone any ideas .... The car, an 06 4x4 estate, ran great. However the fan came on a few times, when the car wasnt even warm or used. One day the car stopped and wouldnt start, after a few minutes it was ok but felt underpowered. It stopped again and wouldnt start. esp light came on.

Garage checked and couldnt determine the fault. It was showing as ECU, exhaust probs, and so many infact he said it cant be them all.

Later it went in and the guy said its the ECU ... had it reconditioned and returned to the garage saying the fault was caused by a massive short causing ecu to fail. He checked and then found a lot of water in the electrics and in the relays. Dried wires out, replaced the relays and checked car over. It ran and was returned to me. I paid the bill.

I drove around 30 miles and it went again. This time there were no warning lights on. It just wouldnt start, although it was turning over very well. I sent it back. ECU was checked and repaired again.( a faulty transistor ? ) The guy also checked ALL the wiring looking for any breaks. Said one wire was iffy and replaced it.

Returned the car to me and after only 8 miles it went again. Would not start, but no warning lights showing. AA came and fired some easy start into the intake and it started. Then stopped as it was burned away. Each time he tried, it started but soon stopped. I tried to start it the following day and it started, without easy start, but it quickly stopped. It has been returned to the garage, but he says he will probably now need to replace a loom costing around £2000 to buy!

The car has been in the garage and off the road since Sept 30th. Since then I have done around a total of under 40 mles in it, although I have spent a good few hundred having it repaired. Now its still not running and they want me to pay for something else .... Any ideas on what is causing this problem ? He says if its a new problem I will have to pay again ? How can I tell if its a new or indeed a repeat of the old fault ?

thanks for reading.

Is it a Skoda dealer doing this work or just a bog-standard vehicle repair outfit?

Is it a Skoda dealer doing this work or just a bog-standard vehicle repair outfit?

He was recommended to me by another Skoda owner, who has used his services, as a specialist in skoda. I have been told that he is very good in his field.

I am hoping to hear from him later today, with, possably some good news and a car that runs.
