Hi all

My brothers octy tdi has a slight coolant leak which we haven't sussed where its coming from yet and as i went to top it up the other day i noticed what appears to be a rusty colour on the cap of the expansion tank and what seems to be a slight rusty colour in the coolant. What could be causing this ?

Might be worth checking the condition of the radiator... if it's corroding it might be causing the sediment in the coolant and if it's got really bad that might be where you're losing coolant from.
