Superb

Featured Replies

I am looking at buying 2005 Superb 2.5 TDI V6 Elegance Tiptronic.

It's in mint condition which belies its 70K mileage.

I came across this forum while looking for any reported common faults (I didn't find any howlers!) so I will be glad to hear what long-term/used cars owners experience has been.

And a question: Will the Superb run on veg oil or is that a technical no-no?

Welcome Dave,

Do a search for 'water ingress' as this is the most common fault that they all suffer from and will cost a fortune to get fixed, or be just a PITA to do yourself.

FWIW the pick of the bunch to go for is the 1.9PD (130 AWX engine) and manual box.

Steer WELL clear of the 2.0 140PD engine unless you enjoy premature oil pump failure which will cost thousands to repair.

Thanks, Guys.

Unfortunately arthritic knees have forced me down the auto route, so a manual is no-go.

I browsed the site and saw the water ingress issue so if I go and inspect the car I have in mind, I know what to look for.

But would that issue have been solved by 2005 or was it still raging on then?

Cheers

Dave

No they never solved the water ingress issue on the MKI Superb (even with the facelift) it was also inherited from the Passat B5 & B5.5.

Hello Dave and welcome along
