Coolant light on

Featured Replies

This morning when my wife took the car to work the coolant light came and stayed on with audible beeping, on checking the coolant level it is ok, temp gauge is normal. Now the light has gone off, any ideas out there please would be much appreciated. Fabia Vrs 2004, never came across this before in the 7 years that I have had it.

The sensors can get gunked up and need a clean. On some models I think you can get at them with a screwdriver to just give them a little scrape to clean them, on some models it's not accessible so might mean a new expansion bottle.

Thanks Gac for your swift reply, why would the light come on and then go off.

The sensor is covered in cack, so it miss reads the level i`m guessing. The fabia needs a new top part of the tank because the sensor is built in, dont panic though, my mate paid about £25 fitted to sort his.

Cheers guys, doen't seem too bad then, will get it sorted after the festivities as not needing to use the car much. Merry Christmas to you all, cheers the noo Willie.

On my old furby (1.4 elegance) I would quite often get this during the winter (generally when it was below zero) checked the level (once or twice a little bit low so topped up) still came on when starting but a quick switch off and then on and it cleared. Never had the problem when it was a warm day though.
