Who's running 17's on there vRS (tyre pressures)

Featured Replies

I know a few are running 17" alloys on there vRS...

my question is what tyre pressures are you using back & front...

As a rule of thumb i usually double the rim diameter, so 17" would be 34psi.

On Proxes T1R's I run Fr 35/36, Rear 33.

Found that a lower pressure, Especially on the fronts I experienced excessive shoulder wear!

34ish

Cheers guys ............ :) :) :)

I like your rule of thumb I'll bare that in mind.

32/32 normal and 36/36 if fully laden according to the back of my filler cap. does the required pressure change with wheel size?

When supplied with axle loadings, the tyre manufacturer should be able to provide the most accurate recommended pressures. The big brands are usually good with this.

Glad i found this as i was going to ask the same question after going from 16" to 17" and wasn't 100% sure the 33/31 tyre pressures i was using before would be correct. Cheers.

I'm not so keen. I wouldn't run 14" steels @ 28 psi. I'd be wanting just above 30.

I run 17s and have about 34 in the front due to the engine weight, and around 30 to 31 in the back as I have nothing back there - no seats/seatbelts, so less weight to lug around than the front end.

True, I have 34 all round.

32 all round, but after reading this I think I'll up the front to 34 as the fronts look a tad flat.

Bromo you must feel every little crack in the road. Lol.

Hahaha yeah every single one of them... But I always find the harder the tyres are the more you can feel the road and feel more in control of the car... Or is it just me :S lol

Higher pressures will wear out the middles of the tyres quicker though.

At the mo it seams to be the inside wall due to the camber (what I need to sort) but got other things what need doing/fitting first... But your right it will wear the centre in the tyres but not unless I really over inflate... 40psi is the max for mine so I think it's safe lol
