Brake pads

Featured Replies

Just got my Skoda Laura(Octavia II as is known in India) serviced yesterday at 45000 km. It has a fixed service interval of 15000 km.

The dealer changed the front brake pads and a ribbed belt as part of the schedule. Nowhere in the service schedule or owners manual have I seen a service schedule for part replacement.

There was no warning light for brake pad replacement . Have i been had by the service center? or am I missing something here

The service schedule probably varies from country to country. For example, here in the UK, Skoda/VAG schedule cam belt changes much more frequently than elsewhere. It might be worth by-passing the garage with an e-mail to Skoda India to enquire.

They would have replaced the pads if they where near the end of there life, to save you another trip to replace them, also it stops the discs getting scored if the pads run out

Its always best to replace pads just before the warning light comes on
