New alloys on warranty?

Featured Replies

My White alloys on my vRS are a little chipped, and a little scraped, but on some unmolested areas ( the middle flat bit of some of the spokes) the laquer is comming off, leave a dull White colour with a noticeable edge, instead of the shiny White finish...

What do you think my chances are of getting this addressed under warranty?

( pics can't be added at the moment as I'm on my phone..)

hi sharkrider

i had the same problem with my superb 15000 miles they replaced it even tho it had a small curb mark on it aswell.it took one week.

they where very helpful beadles in Kent

I'm not holding my breath as they wear the scars of 23,000 miles, but I'll put a picture up later, the affected areas are nowhere near any damage, I can but ask I suppose!

costs nothing to ask, i had all 4 replaced on my mk1 when they were about 2 years old, small blisters near the air valve, telfords argued at first but i got second opinion from lloyds and jobs a good un

what telfords said at first was, we'll replace them, send them away but if Skoda dont agree id be charged for the set of alloys which is why i got a 2nd opinion from a bodyshop

Had some White alloys on my ignis sport years ago. Had it for 3 years near the end of the warranty and Suzuki agreed to give me a new set of alloys as they were cracked and discoloured. So i'd certainly give it a bash as long as there's no Kerberos damage they should replace them in my view.

I'm sure some people have had new alloys under warranty. Even though uve done 23000 miles your still covered under warranty! Surely that's a record now.

Meant to say kerb damage stupid iPad!

Aye kermit, think I am on the highest miles (just) fir a vRS II owner... No faults to report until these wheels going off!

If they do agree to replace them then they may ask you to contribute to the cost as you will be ending up with wheels that are in a better condition than before (your self inflicted kerb marks).

The alloy's on the Octavia Scout are renowned for delaminating, I'm on my second full set, all replaced under warranty. One was disputed as it had a stone chip on it but they replaced it FOC after some negotiating!

My dealer told me that they have to take photo's of the damage and send them to Skoda UK for approval. If they don't and agree to replace them without first gaining approval then Skoda UK can refuse to reimburse the dealer and they end up out of pocket.

Wow thats awful but some of it very close to rim edge I know the rims stick out far from tyre on vrs, you may have a definite issue with paint pealing though

Has that area been kerbed? Looks like it to me. Pics a bit fuzzy to tell for sure.

What are you cleaning your wheels with...Looks like a wheel cleaner with acid content

Double post, sorry

I certainly wouldn't bother skoda with any damage I ( or my pupils!) have done.... But it's discolouring like that on all the wheels, and often on smooth flat surfaces, nowhere near the edge!

that's a good point.

I got 3 alloys (bbs split rims) replaced on my Vw polo gti due to laquer peeling. They wouldn't change the 4th because it had kerb damage.

They tried to fob me off at the dealers, I went to 4 dealers!! They told me I had damaged the laquer myself due to off road driving and stone chips!! I went to VW customer services in the end and they agreed to change 3. It took about 2 months of trying but I got there in the end.

My dad got the wheels on his merc replaced also. Dealer tried to fob him off too initially.

Just don't take no for an answer.

I've never used any wheel cleaner, just jet wash and elbow grease!

I'll try my local dealer next week and post an update on how they react

THESE WHEELS SHOULD BE COVERD UNDER YOUR SKODA WARRENTY AS ITS COVERED UNDER THE PAINTWORK WARRENTY FOR THE WHOLE CAR (only because the laquer has failed) or els they would not cover the damage done by chips ect

Had a quick read of my warrent contract, says not covered for corrotion caused by water, salt acid or anything else.

but i would still be complaining to my dealer!
