Intercooler pipes same on FSI as TSI?

Featured Replies

Hi all does anyone know if the pipes are the same on the FSI as the TSI as looking at different options for a front mounted intercooler. I know the S3 route but can't get one for decent money so just weighing up my options.

Just had a quick search and All threads I've seen so far have confirmed that they are both the same fitment :)

That's just a hose kit, which cooler would you use?

I had a look in ETKA

Both exiting hoses are the same but the entering hoses have a slightly different part number

Entering intercooler:

BWA- 1k0 145 832 e or b depending on chassis number

CCZA- 1k0 145 832 J

Make of that what you will.

Yea it's very similar to the kit I've been looking at, but it's £190 delivered for full kit.

Well put it this way the golf boys confirmed that the forge kit is the same for both the FSI and TSI and also one of the site sponsors on there confirmed this so can't see how anyone who was producing a kit would make it not fit one of them.

I should think the kit would be fine as iirc jkm had a pic of two different turbo discharge pipes on their website, the only difference was the little lug on the connecting points was in a different position. The kits have removable/turntable end pieces so they should be ok providing the pipe bends are the same.

Oh right that makes sense now and clears up the slight differences in part numbers. Cheers

I've got a downpipe, intercooler and remap to sort once I'm back from skiing (happy dayz ;)) and think it will be in that order so prob a month or so before I get the intercooler, but let me know if u do take the plung and get it.

Just been having a look and the (eg APR intercooler) pipe work doesnt go back to the turbo, it only goes back to the plastic pipe behind the wheel arch liner so the kit we are looking at will fit. Check this video about 4:30 mins in

The kit in the previous thread must go all the way to the turbo, but is still go info to know that the hose mount is different on the TSI to FSI for reference.

The one in the other thread is a HBK engine code, my pipe looks like the one in the video.

Im 99% sure that mine does aswell. Never heard of the HBK TSI engine so interested to know the difference between 2.0 TSI engines

You've just got to watch the flow rate on the Chinese coolers, I had one on my Mk1 and although it kept temps down well it didn't flow air as well as stock. I suppose at least the air can re-route back through the original cooler so you shouldn't lose too much boost.

I picked up my S3 cooler for £100 which looked like new as it sits behind the air con rad, you could try 1st choice breakers and see what turns up.

Cheers for the info on the chinese coolers as nice to hear from someone who has actually used one.

£100 is a cracking price and do always keep my eye for one as definitely would be my first choice and did plan it when rebuilding the front end, but funds didn't stretch :(. They are rare to come up though and people know that their sought after.
