The parents

Featured Replies

Well Its the age old problem seems the parents are up in arms about the new car....

Its not the new car but the bits i have brought for it that are flooding through the post at the mo B) , apparently im wasting my money but i think im just styling haha and hey at the end of the day if i treat myself why cant the car look good :p :giggle:

Have you picked the car up yet?

  • Author

haha Tuesday i pick it up as then at 21 i can actually afford the insurance :giggle:

Do you want a few spares (free) I've got a set of spare wheel centre caps (with no badges on) and an airbox sitting around in the shed I can drop round to Shroud over the weekend if you want them?

You can de-fin the airbox and replace the standard one when it's done (thats if Shrouds car doesnt have an induction kit already)

  • Author

mate that would be quite helpful as i want new badges for the wheel centres so means i can save the skoda ones. as for the airbox he just has a green filter so may help. if you could drop them in to him it would be very kind of you mate

Will do, I'll drop Shroud a PM.

I had a definned airbox on mine with a green filter (that's why I removed the original airbox).

awesome does definning make much difference?

No idea, I did the box and panel filter at the same time but the car was down on power at the time as one of the vac hoses under the mani was split so I never got to see a true before and after figure.

It didn't feel much different, induction sound was a bit louder maybe. If you want to eventually get a CAI you could do the airbox in the meantime, that way your parents won't complain about a CAI arriving in the post LOL

yh haha and an exhaust and a forge FMIC :p i said i could be spending it all on booze and that shut them up haha.

ah the age old problem of parents!lol mine where always saying waste of money,u'll never get it back when u sell it!,mined i had a rover 216 gti at the time,so they may of had a point!lol :)

haha ah the good old days. Im a non drinker non smoker so my parents have no arguement against my hobby. Harms noone (other than myself when i bang my hand when fixing them) and i get enjoyment...also you have something to show for it.

I moved out at 15 so never had that trouble!

Paying for it now im married tho jeez!........13 years I've been moaned at lol, she's even tried to get me to change my ways

To no avail of course! She wasn't to bad while I had the (sensible) vrs. Soon changed when that went and I brought the Volvo....she hated it , I loved it. Had to pick her up in it once while hers was being fixed. Let's just say she doesn't like drifting and never got in it again!

God knows what she'll be like when I fund a replacement for that bless her

they may net be happy soon ive found an uprated SMIC (just a cost saver until i go for a forge FMIC) nice and cheap so that will be in the post :p

Mate I've not seen good reviews about the smic. Not over stock anyway

  • Author

hmmmm just dont wana go fmic just yet cus id do it properly and get a forge

That kit (the one I have) is good enough for the price. You could even stay standard and save the money, up to you though. Could spend the money on silicone hoses n stuff

  • Author

yh i spose haha

Or get the car first and she how it is you may need to sped on other stuff yet

Dnt bother with a smic especially if your gonna go fmic. Save your money towards a decent forge/pro alloy one.

  • Author

yh i think ill save up

forge fmic is overkill on a stock turbo, if you have no intention of going big or hybrid turbo, get an uprated smic, works better with less lag than an uprate fmic, and will cost a lot less than an fmic.

You seem to think turning 21 is gonna change the insurance alto. have you checked this?

I'm 28 and don't live at home and still have this problem but as said previously i don't drink, i don't smoke and i work hard for my money,

Only thing i will say is don't get into debt to mod it, do it as you can afford to
