What Install Kit Needed? For Ice

Featured Replies

I'm a big noob at this ICE lark :p

Do all Skoda's need a VW adapter kit and fascia?

Would'nt your local skoda dealer supply you those or do you recommend buying them separately?

I think you will only need the VW adapter if you change your HU. And I don't think you need a fascia as the HU is standard DIN size.

Think the cheapest VW adapter can be found at bluespot ( http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/vw.asp ).

HTH,

Q.

Chanser - you'll definitely need a fascia adaptor if you're putting a new HU into a Fabia, but can't comment on whether the same applies for Octys!

Autoleads (.co.uk?) sell a lot of adaptors.... grrr its too early to bother finding the link!

Ah, yes, I was ofcourse referring to a putting new HU in the Octavia... Stimps, pass me some brew :D

Instant only I'm afraid... although 2 spoons of coffee and 2 of sugar make up a good wake-me-up SHOCKED.gif

The company who fitted my Kenwood, had various fascias in stock, and considering the Fabia was not a common car at the time mine was done (2001) I was dead chuffed that they had fascia adaptors in stock. Looks the doggies danglies too, as its silver effect.

I'm still on the sub charge at the moment. I can myself being an AGNI (All (the) Gear, (but) No Idea). Hoping someone at this weekends meet or the RPM thingu will be able to put me right. I'd better bring an A4 pad and a pen I think to make some detailed notes. :D

For the Octavia, you don't *need* the VW lead, but it disables

the diagnostic wire, which your dealer will thank you for, as it

can screw their equipment.

Autoleads do one, part number PC2-69-4 - tenner plus delivery

from MCS Direct.

No fascia is required for the Octavia.

Not sure on the wiring of the Fabia, but I'd imagine it would

be the same. And you need a fascia for this.

As for the Superb...dunno... :D

Rob.

superb is bouble din bay same as passat/octy

So I guess that'd be a no for needing the fascia then...

Actually, doesn't it also have the Symphony head unit? So it would probably require the wiring

adapter too...

Rob.

i believe all vw/audi/seat/skoda/lambo ;) post 99 need the adapter... might even be before 99:eek:

Oh yes! Need the wire adapter if you don't want to put 12v up the diagnostic tool.;)

IIRC

Yeah, the Alpine gear's all in - I'll get round to taking pics at some point, though it doesn't

look all that impressive (but that was what I was after ;) ).

Sounds very good though, easily overpowers "motorway speed" noise. Still tempted to add

the amp into it to though when Ian fixes it... :D

Rob.

Must admit I'm real tempted to fit some 6x9 in the parcel shelf.

So many things to do............

Would be easy enough to do... :D

Well I got a Fabia, so I need a fascia but does the Fabia need the Vw adapter kit?

I'd imagine it would if it has the same security features as the Symphony...either way, it's

only a tenner(ish) at stake with the adapter... :D

rob.

Yes, I think (95% certain) that you'd need the VW adapter too for the Fabia.
